Cabling & Bracing

Do you have a split trunk evergreen tree? Do you have a large maple, oak, or cottonwood with giant branches? If so, call Arbor Magic Tree Services for a free evaluation on the safety of the tree, so that we can determine if there is fact a safety issue.

Split trunk evergreens grow in a "V" shape and sway separately in the wind causing stress on the primary trunk from pressure and torque. This problem can easily be solved by cabling the trunks together. About 2/3rds of the way up the tree we place a stainless steel eyebolt into each trunk and connect them with a 10,000 pound rated cable. This causes the tree to grow straighter, which causes the trunks to sway together and eliminates the stress and torque on the main trunk connection.

On large limbs, we also provide bracing systems to alleviate weight stresses. For this service we can cable (as noted above), or we can utilize non-invasive cable support systems such as the "Cobra" system. The "Cobra" system circles the limbs with a non-restrictive adjustable collar and attaches to the trunk in the same manner, this allows the weight to be supported by the strongest part of the tree.
